A Night of Rock and Roll at the Palace Theater: Keen School of Music’s Rock Ready Show
On Sunday, August 4th, the historic Palace Theater in Gallatin, TN, became the epicenter of a musical extravaganza as six student bands from Keen School of Music’s Rock Ready Program took the stage. The evening was filled with electrifying performances, spanning genres from metal to country rock, showcasing the diverse talent and enthusiasm of these young musicians.
Kicking off with a Roar: Gremlins After Midnight
The evening kicked off with "Gremlins After Midnight," a band of powerhouse performers all under the age of 12. These young rockers didn’t hold back, delivering a powerful setlist that included metal anthems like "Walk" by Pantera, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Metallica, "Breaking the Law" by Judas Priest, and "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine. Their performance was nothing short of impressive, showing that you are never too young to rock out!

Emo Revival: The Human Zoo
Following the metal madness, "The Human Zoo" took the stage, bringing the emo rock vibes of the early 2000s back to life. This teen band captivated the audience with their renditions of "Sugar, We’re Goin' Down" by Fall Out Boy, "When I Come Around" by Green Day, and "505" by Arctic Monkeys, and other rock hits of the early 2000's. Their energy and delivery resonated with everyone in the room, making it clear that
emo is still very much alive and kicking.

A Genre-Spanning Set: The Neanderthals
"The Neanderthals," another teen band, offered an eclectic mix of songs that showcased their versatility and sense of humor. Their setlist featured the rock classic "Hey Bulldog" by The Beatles, the quirky "Ocean Man" by Ween, the hilarious parody (accompanied by beard props on stage) "Amish Paradise" by Weird Al Yankovic, the moody "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode, and the upbeat "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo. This mix of genres and styles made for a unique and thoroughly entertaining performance.

Next up was "The Purple Jefferson Helicopter Band," a group of students of varying ages and instrumentalists, including a saxophone player! Their set was a dynamic mix of rock and alternative hits, including "Monkey Wrench" by Foo Fighters, "No Surprises" by Radiohead, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers, "Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie, and "Snap Out of It" by Arctic Monkeys. The addition of the saxophone brought a fresh twist to their
sound, making for an unforgettable performance!
