Most students arrive wanting to play something they already love, and that is where we begin. Guitar lessons at Keen School of Music in Gallatin, TN serves children and adults at every level. We teacher Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, and Bass Guitar.
Instruments are available for use during lessons if you do not yet own one.
Beginner
Guitar Lessons at
Keen School of Music
Our instructors teach beginner guitar lessons starting with the fundamentals, including hand position, tuning, open chords, basic scales, and rhythm. From there we use songs students already know to guide them through the early stages of musical development, because a beginner playing something recognizable in the first few weeks is a beginner who keeps practicing at home. If your student is left-handed, we cover that too, and our guide to left-handed music lessons explains how we approach setup and equipment.

We teach guitar to kids, teens, and adults, and we build the curriculum around the student rather than a fixed sequence. Your instructor spends the first lesson learning what you listen to and what you want to be able to play, and that shapes where lessons go from there. Parents often ask how much practice a beginner really needs, and our realistic guide to music practice covers what we actually expect at home. Adults starting from zero are welcome here as well, and if you are wondering whether you have waited too long, you have not.
Intermediate
and Advanced
Guitar Lessons at
Keen School of Music
Once the fundamentals are solid, guitar lessons move into the skills that let students play independently. Intermediate students work on barre chords and movable shapes up the neck, scale patterns and lead playing, reading both standard notation and tablature, and fingerpicking. We also spend real time on ear training and on how chords relate to one another, because a guitarist who understands why a progression works can learn a song without waiting for someone to hand them the sheet.

Advanced students take that foundation in whatever direction they choose. That might mean improvisation and soloing over changes, music theory applied directly to the fretboard, style-specific technique, or songwriting and arrangement. Our instructors include working musicians and award-winning songwriters, so students who want to write their own material are learning from people who do it professionally. Lessons at this level are shaped almost entirely by the student, whether the goal is a school audition, a worship team, or simply playing better than you did last year.
Guitar Lessons for
Kids
We start guitar students as young as four, on smaller instruments sized to fit them. Early lessons stay short and hands-on, building steady rhythm, clean fretting, and the confidence to make sound without worrying about mistakes. Progress at this age looks like comfort and curiosity more than repertoire, and we let that happen at its own pace. Parents are welcome to sit in or wait on the porch, and our post on whether parents should sit in during lessons covers what tends to work best. Guitar Lessons for
Teens
Teenagers usually arrive knowing exactly what they want to play, and we build lessons around that. Some students are working toward school auditions, some want to write their own songs, and plenty just want to sound like the band they have had on repeat all year. Teens who want to play with other musicians can join our Rock-Ready Program and rehearse and perform with a full band. Guitar Lessons for
Adults
Adult students make up more of our studio than people expect. Some are complete beginners, some are returning to an instrument they set down decades ago, and both belong here. Lessons move at whatever pace your week allows, and we build them around the music you actually want to play rather than a required syllabus. We also offer flexible scheduling with no contract, which is usually the part that makes it possible for adults to commit.

A block of TEN 30min lessons is $300

There is no contract with our lessons.
Use the lessons that you pay for at
your convenience.
We also offer 1hr lessons. The price for a 1hr lesson is equivalent to two 30min lessons.
